Frome Dementia Action Alliance is making positive steps in making Frome a Dementia Friendly Community.
In support of the Prime Minister’s Challenge on Dementia, the group is keen to encourage everyone in the town to recognise how, by having more understanding and taking small actions can make a big difference in supporting people with dementia and their carers to live well with dementia.
The groups – which was registered in April – is now keen to support any business or organisation in the town to become dementia friendly and show how simple that can be, like Sequoia Jeffries, Gracewell of Frome’s receptionist who recently became a Dementia Friend during Dementia Awareness week.
To join, complete a one page action plan declaring three actions you are taking to make yourselves dementia friendly, this can include, ensuring all your customer facing staff are Dementia Friends, your signage is clear and easy to read or providing information about support and services for people with dementia and their carers in your premises.
Frome Dementia Action Alliance is willing to provide Dementia Friends awareness sessions, which are free and last an hour for anyone interested. Likewise, if you are a Dementia Friends Champion and would like to run a session please contact us.
