FROME TOWN FC is ready to kick-off the new season, with new signings and a promising pre-season record.
The Robins begin their Evo-Stik Southern League campaign this Saturday with a tough game against AFC Totton at home at 3.00pm.
Manager Darren Perrin says that last year was a successful season on and off the pitch, but says he is “starting from fresh this season.”
He said, “First and foremost, as with every season, it’s more about finishing outside the bottom two positions in the league.
“We have signed Chippenham Town striker Lewis Powell, who we hope will change the dynamic of the team and score a few goals.
“We’ve got a few youngsters come over from Forest Green Rovers and Salisbury City too.
“We have had a few injuries in pre-season training, but we will take each game as it comes. The pre-season match record was good, it could have been better.”
In a friendly match, Frome Town beat League Two team, Bristol Rovers 1-0 in front of a 412-strong home crowd.
“We finished up 12th last season. That’s old news now. This is a fresh start and we will treat every team with the respect they deserve,” said Darren Perrin. “We’re up against AFC Totton, straight out of the blocks – it doesn’t really get much tougher than that. We’ll do our best though, and hopefully get some goals in.
“I hope the people of Frome can fully get behind the team. It would be great to see more supporters come along to the home games.”
