Dorothy House Hospice Care is holding a ‘Light up a Life’ service in Frome next month as part of a series of events for people to remember loved ones at Christmas.
The free service will take place at Wesley Chapel, Wesley Slope, on Thursday 8th December from 5.30pm.
The short service will feature Christmas carols, readings, and an opportunity to remember loved ones and to light a candle in their memory.
The seasonal service is one of nine run as part of the annual Dorothy House ‘Light up a Life’ appeal, which last year raised £45,000 to help the hospice provide essential palliative and end of life care, free of charge to local communities in Bath and North East Somerset, parts of Wiltshire and Somerset.
Dorothy House community fund-raiser, Yvonne Brunton, who helps organise the services said, “The Light up a Life services are a very special time for families and friends to join together and remember a loved one. Many people gain great encouragement from attending the services and view it as the start of their Christmas.”
Chief executive John Davies said, “It’s a privilege to mark 40 years of Dorothy House with these services. The services are a great opportunity for families to remember loved ones and reflect before the busy Christmas season begins.
“Since 1976, the hospice has cared for 45,000 patients and their families in the local community and this has been made possible by the generosity of many supporters and volunteers who have made Dorothy House the special place it is today.”
There will also be services in Bath Abbey, Shepton Mallet, Warminster, and other places across Wiltshire. Doors open from 5.30pm, entry is open to all and no tickets are required.
