The Frome Youth and Community Centre (FYCC), part of the local charity YMCA Brunel Group, has been awarded Youth Investment funding aimed at revitalising its facilities and enhancing services for young people in the Frome community.
This significant investment will facilitate a comprehensive renovation of the Frome Youth and Community Centre and the addition of new staff members to expand the range of activities and support available to Frome’s young people.
With the upgrades planned, YMCA Brunel Group will be able to improve its services in Frome and better serve the needs of local young people.
“Among the enhancements planned for the centre in Frome are the creation of a state-of-the-art computer room, a fully equipped kitchen, and other modern amenities,” explained the marketing manager, Sarah Bradicich. “These upgrades will not only provide a more welcoming and engaging environment for young people and the community as a whole but also improve the overall safety and accessibility of FYCC.
“In addition to the physical improvements, new staff members will enable the centre to significantly broaden its programming and support services in Frome. With expanded session offerings, workshops and one-to-one support opportunities, young people of Frome will have greater access to resources and guidance to help them thrive. The experienced and dedicated staff members joining the centre bring a wealth of expertise, ensuring that Frome’s youth receive the highest quality support and mentorship.”
The decision to award funding to FYCC follows a collaborative effort involving the YMCA Brunel Group team, local young people of Frome and community stakeholders. “Through extensive consultation and planning, the renovation project was carefully designed to address the most pressing needs of the Frome community and maximise its positive impact,” says Sarah.
“As part of the transition, Frome Youth Club temporarily relocated to Routes (Palmer Street, Frome BA11 1DS) from 29th April. Operating on Monday and Wednesday evenings during term time from 7pm to 9pm, the club will continue to offer open-access activities for young people aged 10 to 19 years. Professional youth workers are on hand to provide information, advice and guidance, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for Frome’s youth.
“All work at FYCC is going according to schedule and the building is due to reopen in November of this year!”
