Frome will be holding its Annual Remembrance Sunday Parade and Service at the Memorial Theatre next Sunday 13th November at 11am.
The parade will begin at 10.45am at Frome Cadet Centre on Keyford Road – anyone wishing to be involved should meet there at 10am. The service will run from 10.50am to 11.30am and will observe a two-minutes’ silence to remember those who have lost their lives in conflict as well as their families and friends.
Chairman of the local Royal British Legion branch, Jane Norris said, “The Frome branch of the Royal British Legion encourage everyone to ‘Stop and Remember for two minutes at the eleventh hour’ this Remembrance Sunday the 13th November.
“Remembering however can stir up emotions but it is in coming together in comradeship that experiences can be shared. The Legion has as its logo “Live On”. Whether affected by physical or less obviously mental health needs, the Legion is ‘mindful that there is a new generation of veterans that need our support,’ the Frome branch recognises this also. Take that first step to Live On. All are welcome to attend the Remembrance Service and Parade, with or without a poppy.
“The Frome Remembrance Service at the Frome War Memorial outside the Memorial Theatre will commence at 10.50am on Sunday 13th November. Those wishing to parade should go to the Drill Hall in Keyford for 10.20am for the short parade at 10.45am.”
“This is the centenary year of two auspicious WW1 battles, the Battle of the Somme and Battle of Jutland. The service will reflect the contribution of all branches of the armed forces with the singing of the tri-service hymn.”
For anyone in need, or seeking more information about support please see the RBL members on the day or go to Rethink Remembrance at rbl.org.uk/remember or call 0777 620 8531, where Jane Norris, chairman of the Frome branch will be happy to signpost to services.
The Assembly Rooms at the rear of the Memorial Theatre will be open after the service for refreshments. All welcome to attend.
