FROME Lions will be hosting their ‘Ride Kids Ride’ event this weekend in the Old Showfield.
Children are invited to come along to the event this Sunday, 19th September, 12.30pm to 4.30pm, with their friends and family to see how many laps they can achieve around the show field in 30 minutes riding their bicycles, scooters or skateboards.
The Lions say, “There will be laps in two distances round the show field – a shorter one around the football field suitable for first school age children, and a longer one around the whole field (four laps is 5km) suitable for middle school age children.
“Also, there will be an accessible race for children with physical disabilities using their own paediatric mobility aids.
“For every lap completed participants will receive one ticket for the free raffle, giving them a chance to win a bike and helmet with one year’s maintenance donated by Halfords, Frome.
“During the afternoon there will be a barbecue and refreshments available, and other activities for the whole family, plus there will be a ‘Bike Jumble’.
“Also, this year as part of the event we will be holding a free bike maintenance workshop organised by DING.”
Parking will be available at Frome Town Football Club or the medical centre. Cost of entry to the challenge is £2 per child.
