The Mayor of Frome, cllr Toby Eliot recently joined the Frome Selwood Rotary Club meeting at which various charities received cheques from the club’s trust fund following a year of fund raising.
CLIC Sargent, Frome YMCA, Frome Youth Band, POD – a Frome charity for young people aged 10-18 years-old with various diagnosis and social communication difficulties, and the Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance all received cheques.
President Ken Fricker said, “As my last act as President before handing over to my successor, I am delighted to empty the charity account by making these donations.
“Of particular relevance to the club is the donation to the Air Ambulance. Terry Candy, a past president of the club, had a very bad accident in the grounds of the Fox and Hounds, Tytherington, exactly 12 months ago and the Air Ambulance is probably the reason he is well and with us today. We are all very grateful to have such a service.”
In addition to the service projects run by the club, various events are organised throughout the year at which funds are raised for general charity funds and then distributed to charitable organisations, local, national and international, by the club.
