THIS month Kelly Weeks and Maritsa Harrington will begin their journey cycling the popular challenge from London to Paris, in aid of local charity We Hear You (WHY).
The 300 mile challenge takes place over four days, culminating with the spectacular view of the Eiffel Tower which marks the end of their journey. Both Kelly and Maritsa have been training hard to take on the challenge, and will be raising money to provide counselling for local children and adults who have been affected by cancer and life limiting illness.
Kelly said, “I kind of just fell into signing up for the challenge. I had not long had my second son and felt like I could do with a physical challenge, so agreed with Maritsa to sign up for one.
“I was anticipating a 10k run not a bike ride to Paris!
“However, I really wanted to support a great local charity at the same time so what better opportunity to do it?”
Maritsa said, “The main reason I’m fundraising for WHY is because it’s such a fantastic local charity. I feel really as though I should do as much as I can to help them continue their invaluable work.”
WHY fundraiser Gemma Wilkes said, “We are so proud of Maritsa and Kelly for taking on this challenge in aid of We Hear You. This is such a fantastic opportunity for them to experience a truly inspirational cycle challenge, whilst raising both vital funds and the profile of We Hear You.
