AN independent sandwich shop in the heart of Frome is closing at the end of the month.
Hampers has been based on Stony Street for three years and will be closing its doors to the town on 27th October, as the owner says they will be taking a break before their next adventure.
“It’s been an amazing three years trading from our shop on Stoney Street and we’ve met so many amazing people and have been so lucky to have such loyal customers from the get go,” says Thea, the owner.
“This isn’t goodbye forever just for now as we hope to be back with something bigger and better in the future although we don’t have plans as of yet.
“Times are hard for a lot of people right now and although Hamper is still doing well with trade, personally I need a break before embarking on my next venture.
“Such a huge thank you to all of our customers and suppliers! You’ve still got until the end of the month to get your sandwich fix and we’d love to see you before we say goodbye!!”
The closure follows the news that Lo Rapitenc, a Spanish deli and tapas restaurant that opened on Cheap Street in 2021, is closing in December, due to economic struggles.
A resident said, “I will really miss Hampers. As someone who eats gluten-free food, I always knew I could rely on them for a delicious sandwich. It will really be missed in the town and I wish the owners all the best for the future. Fingers crossed they return to the town in one way or another!”
