For June’s Against the Grain Comedy Club at the Cheese & Grain, they are back to their natural place of Saturday night (Saturday 10th of June to be precise). Tracey Rawlins says, “This month’s line up is a belter. Our headliner is the incredible Anthony King, a charming and hilarious comedian.
“Anthony has wealth of experience on the national comedy circuit, with over 20 years of gigs in top UK clubs, in theatres, arts centres and at festivals. His unique dead-pan style was honed in the early 90s on London before the circuit expanded to what it is today. He’s as at home with a quiet listening audience as he is in the bustle of a rowdy club and has a set full of punchlines. The gags get better and better”
William Cook, The Guardian
“Our opener is the always wonderful Chris Chopping. Chris started performing in 2011, and by now, his dry outlook and hilarious punchlines have secured him regular professional work on the live circuit. His strong material and deadpan persona have led to a cult following.
“Chris also gets a lot of bookings as an MC, proving himself to be a, “laconic host and quick witted raconteur” (South Wales Echo), and is also a regular guest on Jamie Owen’s BBC Wales Radio Show. He recently filmed his TV debut for S4C’s stand up showcase Gwerthu Allan filmed live at The Richard Burton Theatre (Broadcast date 05/01/17).
“A really good comic…Tremendously clever in both his delivery and subject matter” Metro
“He makes this comedy lark look easy” South Wales Echo
“And, as always, your MC for the night is Ben Thurston. Ben is a popular Somerset-based comedian with a quick wit and a fine line in gags.
“It’s going to be a great night of comedy and all in the heart of Frome. Saturday 10th of June, 8pm; £7 in advance or £9 on the door.
