A FROME teenager has been given an award in recognition of the courage she has shown whilst receiving treatment for cancer.
13-year-old Emma Davis, who is a student at Selwood Academy, was nominated for the Cancer Research UK Star Award by her medical team at the Royal United Hospital in Bath.
Emma was diagnosed with leukaemia at the beginning of March this year, and has undergone intensive chemotherapy treatment, spending time in both Bristol Children’s Hospital and the RUH in Bath.
Emma’s mother, Sarah Davis said, “We’re immensely proud of how Emma has reacted to her diagnosis. As a family, we’re always telling her how brilliantly she’s dealing with the treatment and the horrible side effects, but having her medical team at the RUH nominate her for this award, has given her a real boost and sense of pride.
“Treatment is ongoing for Emma until June 2022, but she has endured so much already, this award couldn’t have come at a better time.”
