Frome Food Assembly will be holding its next local food tasting extravaganza on Wednesday 24th May from 5.30-7.30pm at the Steiner School’s main hall.
A new producer, Jane’s Grains, will be joining the Assembly and, along with the 28 existing local farmers, growers and food makers, will be offering members of the public the opportunity to sample her range.
Lindsay Downes, co-host of the Assembly explains, “Jane’s Grains is a cereal company based in Tisbury, just 16 miles outside Frome. Jane produces gluten and sugar-free granola in four different flavour varieties, and most of her ingredients are organic. She is a regular at the Frome Independent and we are delighted to have her join us. Come and taste her granola, shake the hand that feeds you and discover just why she grinds her “superseeds” and toasts goji berries to make her granola both healthy and delicious.”
Alongside Jane, other producers attending include More Wines, who will be sampling the newly-released 2016 community cider from Upton Noble, Up to No Good, as well as the 2016 Dunleavy Rose from vineyards in the Chew Valley. The Old Bakehouse will be showcasing their new sourdough and chia breads, and Meadowside Farm will bring the taste of summer with refreshing elderflower cordial. Kath Lee from Happy Flora, one of the Assembly’s more recent producers, will be sampling “no cheese cheesecakes” and smoothies made using her coconut milk kefir. There really is something for everyone!
Co-host Pia McGee adds, “Absolutely everyone is welcome to attend and taste. No orders are necessary. We hope people will be inspired by the chance to meet their local farmers and growers and to be able to buy directly from them, via the Frome Food Assembly. We are also really looking forward to being part of the Frome Festival with an even bigger tasting event on Wednesday 12th July. We will be welcoming guest producers from other Food Assemblies in the South West, so it should be a great evening. Put it in your diary!”
