A HEAD teacher is celebrating the successful SATS results of pupils at his school – despite a national drop in levels following the pandemic.
Dan Jeffries, head at Selwood Academy, said, “Nationally following the pandemic attainment at Key stage 2 has dropped quite substantially.
“However, Selwood has bucked the trend and seen an increase across the board and recorded their record results.
“As a year group there were a number of huge successes, with a record-breaking number of pupils achieving the expected standard across reading, writing and maths.”
Mr Jeffries said a record number of pupils also achieved the expected standard in maths; and ninety per cent achieved the expected standard in science – the highest in the school’s history and higher than the national average.
He continued, “Our writing results are also substantially above the county average as well as above the National average.
“These results are a testament to the incredible efforts of our staff and pupils coming out of a pandemic, they have truly let their light shine and I couldn’t be more proud of them.
“We know our pupils put everything they had into these assessments and therefore deserve to be very proud, and most importantly that they absolutely did the best for them.”
