Beckington Church of England First School and Frome fundraiser Lainey Sweeney from ChallengeAid have collaborated to link Beckington School with ChallengeAid’s Schools of Hope in Kenya.
Earlier this month, the children of Beckington School were sponsored to walk a mile carrying a container of water every day for one week, the same distance the children of the Schools of Hope travel to fetch fresh water.
Lainey said, “This is not only making links, encouraging children to take on a physical challenge and raising awareness, it is also a fundraiser for ChallengeAid. The children have been brilliant in their personal challenge as well as understanding the challenge the Kenyan children face every day
“ChallengeAid is a UK-based charity established in 2005 to help children living in some of Africa’s worst slums by creating ‘Schools of Hope’, a unique and sustainable concept which gives educational support. The charity promotes health and fitness throughout the UK, motivating people to raise money through exercise and is involving local schools.”
