REPORTING direct from his own weather station in Frome, our local meteorologist, Michael Cooper, has all the facts and figures for Frome’s weather in July.
Rainfall:
Rainfall for this July = 26.5mm. The average rainfall for Frome over the past 10 years = 79.5mm, so 2018 is well below that average .
All rainfall readings were taken from a Met/Check Cu Rain gauge i.a.w. Air Ministry form 1122.
Temperature:
Highest D.T.T. = 30 Degrees C, recorded at 3pm on Sunday 8th July.
Lowest D.T.T. = 18 Degrees C, recorded on 28th, 29th and 30th July.
Highest N.T.T. = 20 Degrees C, recorded on six nights.
Lowest N.T.T. = 14 Degrees C, recorded during the night of 28th/29th July.
It is interesting to note that the average D.T.T. 2016 = 19.7 Degrees C; the average D.T.T. 2017 = 19.8 Degrees C; and the average D.T.T. 2018 = 24.7 Degrees C .
Therefore 2018 = an average D.T.T. increase of 5.0 Degrees C from 2016/17.
All temperatures readings were recorded from within a S.S. From two different thermometers.
Air Pressure:
Lowest Barometric Atmospheric Air Pressure = 1008mb recorded Sunday 29th July.
Highest Barometric Atmospheric Air Pressure = 1025mb recorded on 8th, 9th and 10th July.
Wind speed:
Highest Wind Speed = 38m.p.h. recorded Saturday 28th July. Vector Direction = S.W.
