FROME Scout group is looking to re-open Beavers after closing down due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Development team assistant, Hannah Jackson said, “Over the past six months 1st and 7th Frome Jubilee Scout Group have slowly been reopening their sections since closing down post covid, like a lot of scout groups. After covid lots of the previous leaders chose not to restart with the sections and sadly the group closed.
“With the help of the Regional Services Team, within the Scout Association, the group now has a thriving Scout troop for 10.5 to 14-year-olds and a growing Cub pack for ages eight to 10.5-year-olds, and we’re soon hoping to re-open Beavers for six to eight-year-olds.
“The group is looking for interested young people to join our interest lists. If interested, send an email with the young person’s full name and DOB to, enquiry@ 1stand7thfromescouts.org.uk.
“We’re also looking for adults to join the teams in Cubs and Beavers. Volunteering is flexible and fun and fit around the adult and is good for you. Scouts meet on Mondays at 7.30 to 9pm; Cubs meet on Thursdays 6pm to 7.30pm; and Beavers meet on Wednesdays at 6pm to 7pm. All sections meet at the Scout Hut on Welshmill Road. Beavers, Cubs and Scouts is all about having fun and learning skills for life as well as making memories along the way.
“All sections welcome young people onto its interests lists and we’re always looking for volunteers for our committee and within the sections.”
