The six Scouts and Explorers from Frome who have been selected to represent Somerset at the World Scout Jamboree next July in America have had a busy few weeks fundraising with collecting at the Frome Rotary Clubs’ fireworks, bag packing in Warminster Waitrose and Mole Valley Farmers, and selling hot drinks and mince pies at the Frome Extravaganza.
Explorer Scout, Jessica Lee said, “In between our fundraising we have also attended our 5th training camp, which we shared with a WSJ unit from Wiltshire and a group who are going to Madagascar next year”
The group’s latest idea is to hold a raffle with top prizes including a 2-night retreat in a cosy cottage in Devon, worth over £200, day passes to Center Parcs, Longleat and a photograph of members of Coronation Street signed by some of the cast plus other exciting prizes, kindly donated by Whitstone’s Fish and Chips, Shepton Mallet, Asda and the Memorial Theatre.
Tickets, costing £1 each, will be on sale from early December with the draw taking place at Easter.
Group member, Rachel Brown, said “We will be out and about selling tickets and would like to thank everybody for their continued support with our fundraising.
“If anybody would like to buy raffle tickets, we can be contacted via email – frome wsj.2019@ gmail.com.”
