Frome Extravaganza was a perfect night for sales of mulled apple juice, hot chocolate, warm mince pies and home made gingerbread from a stall run by the Scouts and Explorers from Frome, who have been selected to represent Somerset at the World Scout Jamboree next July in America.
Their leaders say, “The stall was a demonstration of the skills and teamwork the group has learned at their training camps, from setting up, organising signage, devising the best recipe for mulled apple juice to baking gingerbread, which sold out on the night!
“The group is extremely grateful to the Radstock Co-operative Society in the Westway Centre, who kindly donated and warmed the mince pies, which proved very popular.
“The following day, the group was busy fundraising again, this time over at Mole Valley Farmers in Standerwick, where they spent the day trolley and bag packing and assisting customers with Christmas trees at the Mole Valley Fun Day.
“Tickets for a raffle, with top prizes including a two-night retreat in a cosy cottage in Devon, worth over £200, day passes to Center Parcs, Longleat and a photograph of members of Coronation Street signed by some of the cast, plus other exciting prizes, kindly donated by Whitstone’s Fish and Chips, Shepton Mallet, Asda and the Memorial Theatre, are now on sale, with the draw taking place at Easter.”
