THE Orchardleigh Ladies have had another successful season, winning trophies in various competitions.
Competitions have been run by the Somerset County Senior Ladies Golf Association (SCSLGA). They recently held their AGM at Long Sutton Golf Club at which Anne Regler won the Wilson Cup in the putting competition.
Anne Regler and Sue Sweet won the 4BBB competition in May when the SCSLGA held their spring meeting at Orchardleigh. In August, at Worlebury Golf Club, Audrey Holland won the Bacon Trophy for getting the best gross score in the bronze 21-28 handicap section, and at the same event Sonia Probert won the Woodhouse Trophy for being overall runner-up with a score of 37 points.
The Orchardleigh Ladies have not done so well in the Bristol & District Alliance League this year, winning only two matches out of 10.
Sarah Doble said, “We needed good wins in our last two fixtures but unfortunately lost at home to Mendip B 4/10 and to Worlebury away 4/10. Our total scoring for the year was not sufficient to keep us in division four, so we will be joining division five for the 2019 matches.
“We did rather better in the Somerset Ladies Interclub League, winning four of our matches, drawing two and losing five, so we will remain in division three for the 2019 season.”
