SHARE, Edventure Frome and Frome Town Council are planning a programme of repair, swapping and sharing sessions over the next few months.
Launching on international repair weekend on Sunday 20th October, a team of volunteer repairers will be on hand to help repair a range of items including electrical, clothing and furniture. The event is from 3pm – 5pm at the Welshill Hub on Park Hill Drive and is free, but pre-booking is essential.
On Saturday 23rd November, SHARE will be hosting a swap shop at the Town Hall from 10am to midday. Bring any unwanted but good quality items including clothes, toys, books and bric-a-brac and swap for things you do want or would like to give to someone.
This will be repeated after Christmas on Saturday 18th January to enable people to swap unwanted Christmas presents. Any remaining items will be donated to charity or sold to raise funds for SHARE. Free repair sessions will also continue in the new year on Sunday 23rd February and Sunday 15th March.
Aliss Vaas, co-ordinator at SHARE who is overseeing the programme said, “We all have items at home that we don’t often use and things that need a small fix to be useable again. Funding from the Lottery and Frome Town Council means we’re able to offer free repair and swap events. There will be more of this in the new year, including free skill sharing sessions around technology and cooking.”
