FROME powerlifter Chris Pike is preparing for both the British and World Powerlifting Championships later this year and is confident he will come out on top.
Chris has already had a busy summer, having won a silver medal at the European Powerlifting Championships in Stoke-on-Trent.
Chris said, “I was over the moon to win silver. I was in a group of seven and expected to come fifth or sixth, so to win silver was amazing.”
Now Chris turns his attention to the British Championships in September, when he will defend his position as the current British Champion, and then the World Championships which take place in Louisiana in America this November.
“This will be my first World Championships as the first time I was invited I didn’t feel ready, and last year I was injured so I couldn’t go. But this time I feel confident and as long as I don’t pick up any injuries beforehand, I should have a successful competition.
“The World Championships is the big competition and what the last 17 years has been building up to. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to get to this point, I train 6 days a week and I’m constantly thinking about my diet. The sacrifices are worth it though – I love everything about it.
“I would like to say a big thank you to New Body Supplement and The Train Station Gym for supporting me.”
