FROME is working towards becoming a ‘Walkers are Welcome’ town. The WaW accreditation would mean that Frome’s public footpaths and facilities must be kept open and maintained, and create new footpaths and walking groups.
In order to achieve official WaW status, the group need your signatures to show that there is real support coming from within the community.
If you would like to support a project that promotes all the health benefits that come with walking, ensures maintenance of public passageways and welcomes a new type of visitor to the town, please add your signature to the list.
Cllr Sheila Gore, the Mayor said, “The health benefits of walking are plenty – it can help improve stamina and improve heart health, and good public well maintained footpaths are good for us all. I would really love for Frome to gain ‘Walkers Are Welcome’ status to help champion accessibility to our beautiful Somerset countryside and show off Frome to all.”
Walkers are Welcome is great for the upkeep of the town, and sends a message to all the walkers out there, that we’re ready for them to come and experience what Frome has to offer.
Forms can be found around town in various cafes, the SHARE shop, Discover Frome Information Point at Black Swan Arts, DEKA running shop and the Town Hall. For further info contact Emma Parker at info@frometown council.gov.uk
