Frome FM is next month sponsoring the celebration of local musician Sara Vian’s debut album with a ‘global extravaganza’ that can be seen and heard by music fans all around the world.
The event will take place at the Assembly Rooms behind the Memorial Theatre on Friday 9th September, where the album ‘Wild, Free & Beautiful’ will be performed in its entirety.
Sara will also perform tracks from the successful self-titled EP, released on Record Store Day 2015, which attracted international fans and earned her the title of “fastest-selling local indie artist” at Raves from the Grave record store.
The nine-song, self-penned album is produced by Will Angeloro and released on Soaring Magpie Records, described as alt-folk-blues with rather surprising and infectious trip-hop, world, dub & Americana influences which should be appealing to fans of Neil Young, Thomas Newman, Marc Collin and Portishead.
Sara Vian will also be playing alongside special guest musicians including Andrew Howell, who has worked with Johnny Cash’s stepdaughter, Carlene Carter and The Monkees.
Sara says, “It’s a real story of triumph! It’s been such an arduous journey of faith. Music has literally been an act of survival, choosing to transform my twisted tales into art, rather than let them get me down.
“So much of life is what we make it, so I was surprised and delighted to discover that the date of the album launch is on the 75th anniversary of when Churchill proclaimed “we are masters of our fate; we are captains of our souls!” in the House of Commons to rally a war-torn Britain.
“It’s especially poignant as the Memorial Theatre celebrates the arts in memory of those who died in the wars.”
Classic punk covers acoustic duo, The Wochynskis, will be kicking off the spirit of revolution in support.
The launch will be broadcast in live audio at www.frome.fm (96.6FM in the local area) and live video on the Frome FM Facebook page between 9pm and 10.30pm.
Book your free place to be part of the live studio audience at www.sara-vian.eventbrite.co.uk (doors open at 8pm).
