Frome had another impressive win at home against Taunton Deane.
The showmen had the perfect start with an opening partnership of 140 between Lett (108) and P Sanger (60). This set the platform for Frome’s middle order to reach their highest run total of the season. The opening batsmen were succeeded by S Croker (16), Veal (39) and Smith (26no) who all eagerly added to the run rate.
Frome’s opening bowlers took no time in gaining the first wickets as R Croker (2-53) and Barton (2-29) claimed a wicket each, leaving Taunton Deane 18-2 from 4 overs. M Sanger (2-55) was next to make an impact, before Taunton Deane rallied with a partnership of 86, challenging the showmen’s competitive score.
A crucial run-out by P Sanger put the odds back into Frome’s favour, along with Lett (1-46) gaining an important wicket.
The showmen managed to keep Taunton Deane’s batsmen at bay, with R Croker claiming the last wicket of the game.
Frome hope to continue their six-game winning streak next Saturday (6th July) at home against Yeovil 1st XI (12:30pm start).
