THIS academic year, Oakfield is taking part in the Sky Sports ‘Living for Sports’ scheme.
Tom Reed, the academy’s athlete mentor, visited in January to meet with the PE team to develop the Oakfield programme.
Oakfield will now be organising sessions with external coach, Chris Roach from Elevation Martial Arts for a target group of pupils.
The mentor programme aims to develop pupil self-esteem and improve behaviour. These projects have already had great results with re-focusing under-achieving pupils.
Miss Pullen, sports coordinator said, “We anticipate a great improvement in behaviour and self-esteem for many or all participating pupils.
“Plans to later include our gifted and talented pupils with additional sport as part of this programme, are also in the pipeline.”
