FIVE Frome locals have raised over £2,000 for charity by jumping out of a plane.
The group took part in the skydive last month in support of Small is Beautiful Africa, a charity raising money to support a small orphanage called Kankobe Children’s Home, which lies close to the equator in Uganda.
The skydiving daredevils included Stacy Grant, who is the daughter of Stewart Grant – trustee of the charity. Joining her were Aaron Bullus, Andrew Doel, Kate Levi and Mike Jackson. The money raised by the group will help towards the building of a library at the orphanage.
Small is Beautiful Africa is run by Frome local Stewart, alongside his brother Kevin Grant and family friend Andrew Smith. The trio took over the charity from Stewart and Kevin’s mother, Patricia Grant, when she died in 2017. Patricia set up the charity after she spent a year in Uganda where she met the nun who at that time ran the orphanage.
Speaking to Frome Times, Stewart said, “On behalf of the charity can I say a big thank you to the fabulous five and everyone that has donated. The money raised will make a big difference and help towards our library project.”
