Frome-based ukulele troupe, The Frukes, presented a cheque for £500 to Somerset Sight recently following their charity gig at The Silk Mill.
The idea came from Frukes member Sue Marshall, who volunteers with the charity.
“A marvellous time was had by all at the gig,” says chairperson of the Frukes, Roger Southard.
“The band played their usual mix of lively music and had people dancing the night away. We presented the cheque to Cath Lyn-Jones from Somerset Sight.”
Cath Lyn-Jones thanked the band for ‘a very generous donation’ and said the charity was “very grateful.” The Frukes said, “It was a pleasure and we had a great evening.”
The event also raised funds for the Frome-based children’s charity Purple Elephant and the cheque presentation will take place soon.
