The Friends of Frome Hospital disappointingly advise the community that their popular, first Saturday of the month, coffee morning on the 4th April has been cancelled.
It was hoped that the planned session, to ‘Meet the Matron’, will be arranged for a later date when the new matron, Nicola Murphy can be introduced.
Chairman Derek Trick of the Friends of Frome Hospital said, “To cancel the coffee morning in the current circumstances is necessary, and we are aware we have a duty to reduce unnecessary public access into the hospital foyer where the refreshments and presentations are held.
“When it has been rearranged, the theme of the morning will be a direct, interactive Q&A exchange with the community from matron and her staff. Previously there used to be a ‘Meet the Matron’ evening meeting three times a year to inform people of activities at the hospital and we would like to encourage more people to attend, so will be trialling this on a Saturday when people may be more readily available.
A new matron with a new look meeting is proposed, so as soon as we get the green light to resume the coffee mornings, we will. We are sure that Nicola will be our first guest speaker. We can then dovetail future matron’s sessions into our coffee morning schedule throughout the year”
Responding, matron Nicola Murphy said, “I fully support the Friends’ decision to postpone the meeting in light of the current situation with the Coronavirus. I will look forward to meeting the Frome community as soon as we are able to confirm a new date.”
