YEAR 9 students at Frome College took part in a public speaking competition with the theme ‘If I ruled the world…’.
Winning student, Owen White reports, “Each candidate had a unique and diverse speech ranging from world history and politics, to the problems of public transport. The theme of the speech was ‘If I Ruled the World…’ and I can say we have some very ambitious leaders! I was very pleased to not only participate, but to win the competition.
“It was a very nerve-wracking afternoon. In lesson 5 we all rehearsed our performances, and then in the evening it was show time. The judges were principal, Ms Reynolds, Mr Schneider and special guest Kate Bielby, who is a Frome College governor and former Frome Town Mayor. Jess Cook won 2nd Prize and Olive Keech won 3rd. The judges awarded the Commendation to Louis Walker.
Special thanks to Mrs Henry for helping us all to achieve our best.”
