2017 has been a special year for the Lions Club of Frome. The club was chartered in March 1967, so this year celebrated 50 years of service to the Frome community, as well as supporting Lions clubs International charities in the UK and worldwide.
The year got under way in spectacular fashion in January with the now well- established annual sporting dinner held at the Orangery at Orchardleigh House, which had as its guest speaker, English Rugby Union legend and current chairman of World Rugby, Bill Beaumont. The event raised over £10,000 for Macmillan nurses.
In March, the club held its 50th Charter Dinner at the Assembly Rooms in Frome. President Lion Keith McLeod welcomed special guests local MP David Warburton and his wife, District Governor of 105 W Lion Godfrey Morris and wife Anne, along with the Presidents of both Frome Rotary clubs as well as several former members and fellow Lions from other clubs in the district.
In June, the Lions held its annual fete in Victoria Park, which was officially opened by local TV presenter and former Frome girl Sarah-Jane Bunghay
