A husband and wife team, Freddie and Chris Underwood, who are behind the success of Stagecoach Trowbridge, are inspiring the next generation of budding young performers in Frome.
Freddie and Chris opened the doors of Stagecoach Performing Arts Frome for children aged 4-15 years in the local community this April. In just two terms, the lucky students of Stagecoach Frome have participated in a Guinness World Record attempt, performed a pantomime at the Frome Memorial Theatre, auditioned to perform at Disneyland Paris in 2019 and have been selected to perform in the West End of London during 2019.
Freddie and Chris say, “We are buzzing with pride and excitement about the students’ achievements so far in only two terms. We have built a strong, creative syllabus that challenges our students whilst being fun, educational and stimulating for all. With so much achieved in 2018 already, we cannot wait for all the exciting events we have in store for our students in 2019”.
Stagecoach Frome offers weekly classes on Saturdays with students learning singing, dancing and acting from an expert team of performing arts teachers at The Selwood Academy.
A long-standing member of the Stagecoach family, performing arts have been a major part of Freddie and Chris’s lives since childhood and they are devoted to bringing awareness to the importance of the performing arts in young people’s lives to the local area. With the arts on decline within schools, Freddie and Chris say: “Now more than ever, Stagecoach provides young people the opportunity to express themselves, be themselves and put down their phones in order to explore their feelings, ideas and relationships.”
Stagecoach aims to make a difference in its students’ lives by teaching Creative Courage for Life, with many students going on to be professionals and world-renowned actors, singers and dancers. Early Stages classes are available for children aged four to six and Main Stages classes take place for six to 15-year–olds every weekend.
