THE Frome Musical Theatre Company (FMTC) gathered for their annual Dinner Dance & Star Awards on Saturday 3rd September.
The event took place at the Assembly Rooms and organisers say that it was a wonderful evening of celebration. They say, “A lovely dinner, provided by Simon Dredge caterers, was followed by the awards ceremony which took place on stage in the Frome Memorial Theatre and then a disco.
“As well as the Star Awards, three National Operatic and Dramatic Association long service medals were presented to Cherry Hill, Sandra Elmer and Teresa Isaacson, each for 25 years’ service. These were presented by FMTC president Humphrey Barnes.
“Cherry first performed with the company in 1968 as Little Miss Snow in Carousel. After a bit of a break, she returned to perform in various pantomimes and spring shows, has helped with make-up, been a member of the executive committee and held positions including social chairman and autumn show producer.
“Sandra’s journey with FMTC started in 1987, perfecting quick changes and taking on the role of wardrobe mistress for several shows. She also produced the pantomime Puss in Boots for the company in 1990 and held the position of producer for Opera Group which later became Show Stoppers, until it dissolved a few years ago. She has sat on the executive committee for a number of years as vice chair, chair and is still an active member.
“Teresa started performing on stage at the age of seven with Trowbridge Amateur Operatic Society and has been fortunate to perform in many wonderful shows in other societies as well as Frome. Shows such as Carousel, the Hired Man, Beauty and the Beast, Hello Dolly as well as several pantomimes. Teresa’s favourite roles include Lily in the Secret Garden, Mrs Lovett in Sweeny Todd.”
