At the end of September, families and pupils at the Steiner Academy Frome gave food to Frome Food Bank and raised £185.42 from a fresh produce and cake stall at the school.
Handing over the money and the food that the children had donated, Principal Trevor Mepham said, “We are very happy to be part of this important venture in Frome and we are delighted at the generous donations of food and money that have been made.”
Frome Food Bank, which is run by Fair frome, provides food for people in crisis who are struggling to put food on the table. People who would like to donate food can do so at the local collection points in Sainsbury’s, Asda, Tesco Express, Co-op Funeralcare, Co-op in the Westway, Wholefood Shop and Barnardo’s. We are grateful for those who give so generously. For those needing to obtain emergency food, referrals are made by the CAB, the GPs at the Medical Practice, the YMCA (for under 25 year olds), and the Children’s Centres, through the PAT workers in the schools and Aster Clients surgery. Grocery bags can then be picked up from the YMCA, the Children’s Centres, the Hospital and the Bridge Café.
