A 78-year daredevil will take part in a wing walk next month to raise money for Dorothy House.
Great-grandmother of eight, Stella Hill, who lives in Witham Friary, near Frome – will fly on top of a Boeing-Stearman bi-plane on 10th September – her way of giving back to the charity that has supported her husband who has cancer.
Stella told Frome Times, “My husband is a patient of Dorothy House, he’s had cancer for five years, and they have been second to none with their help – so this is my way of giving something back to them.
“Everybody says that I am either brave or stupid to take on the challenge – I think it is probably the latter! But nothing is too much trouble for Dorothy House.
“I feel okay about the challenge – I’ve been in a plane before, not on a plane. So it will probably be on the day the nerves will hit.”
So far Stella has raised just under £1,800 for the charity.
“Everybody has been so generous I can’t believe it,” said Stella. “A special thanks must go to my friends at the Seymour Arms, who have supported me. If anyone else would like to donate, the Dorothy House team and I would be very grateful.”
