THERE is still time to enter this year’s competition to become a member of Frome Carnival’s royalty.
The carnival’s committee is looking for its next batch of Carnival Prince and Princesses; and Carnival Granny or Grampy to take part in this year’s procession on Saturday 24th September.
Royalty will also be asked to represent carnival at the Cheese Show on Saturday 10th September, the carnival’s duck race on 2nd October, plus other events in the run up to carnival.
The Carnival Prince and Princesses will be selected via a colouring competition.
The committee explains, “The carnival programme colouring competition is for 8 to 17-year- olds. For 1st place, plus 4 runners up – not only will their fabulous designs be admired on the front and back cover of our programme, but they will also be invited to become our Carnival Prince or Princesses in our carnival processions.
“We are also asking children to nominate their grandparents to be this year’s Carnival Granny or Grampy.”
The closing date for entries is Saturday 16th July, which is when judging will take place at Christchurch Parish Hall from 1pm – everyone is welcome to attend, where there will be refreshments available and a raffle.
Entry forms are available from the Town Hall, Hunting Raven Book Shop and Ellenbray Press. Entry forms and further information on both competitions can also be found on the carnival’s website: www. FromeCarnival.org.uk
