‘STREAMS IN THE DESERT’
On 7th March at 2.15 p.m. at Christ Church, there is to be a special service for the Women’s World Day of Prayer. This is held annually in over 170 countries and enables us to hear the voices of women from all parts of the world, their hopes, concerns and prayers. This year the theme is ‘Streams in the Desert’, which has been prepared by the women of Egypt. Despite the trauma and upheaval this country is suffering at present and in the past, the service is one of hope and inspiration. Exactly the same service will be shared, from the Island of Samoa and sweeping across Asia, Africa, the Middle East, Europe and the Americas, and coming to rest in Samoa some 36 hours later.
Here in Frome, ladies (and gentlemen) from the churches, will take part. Rev. John Nockels is to give the address, and Mr John Samways, the Chair of Frome Area Christians Together, is to take part. Our Mayor has agreed to attend and Mrs Ann Burgess will accompany the hymns.
There will be refreshments afterwards, and a cake stall, to raise funds for the established charities the Women’s World Day of Prayer Organisation supports all over the world.
The churches in Frome, who are pleased to host the event, in turn, would be pleased to see you at this very special service.
