The Frome branch of Barclays bank is holding a book sale throughout the school summer holidays until September, with all proceeds going to the Frome-based charity We Hear You (WHY).
Barclays bank will be matching the amount donated by the public at the book sale. Once the total hits the £100 mark, Barclays’ head office will double the amount raised, which will help greatly to increase the amount given to WHY. Books can be purchased in store for £1 each.
Sara Jane Monger who has organised the event says, “We are excited to be supporting WHY; they are a very local charity, based just up the hill from us! WHY helps the local community by offering emotional support to anyone who is affected by cancer directly or indirectly. They know that cancer can turn people’s lives upside down and that it’s not always easy to talk to the people closest to them.”
Barclays bank is appealing for donations of good quality books to help make the book sale as big a success as possible. To donate books please take them in to the branch in Frome on Stony Street.
Helen Sprawson-White, fundraising officer for WHY says, “We Hear You is a local organisation that delivers life-changing support for children and adults affected by cancer and other life-threatening conditions.
“WHY provides free professional counselling for patients, as well as their families and friends through what can be some of the most challenging times in their life.
“We cannot thank Barclays enough for continuing to support our work in the community. Our clients say that the service, the only one of its kind in Somerset, Wiltshire and Bath, provides a lifeline through their darkest days. The money raised through the book sale will directly fund our counselling service so it can remain free to those local families in need.”
