ARTWORK by students from Selwood Academy is on display at Frome Community Hospital.
The artwork is displayed in the reception, the main upstairs corridor of the hospital outside the birthing unit, and in the Marshfield inpatient ward. Art teacher at Selwood Academy, Charlotte Gale said, “The surreal landscapes have been created by Year 6. The students explored how to draw a landscape, looked at the work of Salvador Dali and came up with their own surreal designs.
“The students learnt about scale, proportion, perspective and foregrounds and backgrounds. The students created their pieces by painting in watercolour and then adding details and textures over the top with colouring pencils.
“Further artwork is displayed in the main upstairs corridor of the hospital and on Marshfield inpatient ward showing kimonos which were a collaborative piece of work created by Year 8. The lino prints were inspired by nature. The students designed their prints based on shapes, lines and textures seen in nature.”
The public are welcome to view the artwork in reception. Anyone wanting to look at the artwork in the main upstairs corridor will need to make reception staff aware. Family & friends of patients in the Marshfield inpatient ward can view the artwork during visiting hours.
