Frome Festival is inviting individuals, promoters, community groups and local organisations to submit their independent event ideas for this year’s festival. Submissions can be made from 31st January to 28th February.
Taking place from 4th July to 13th July, the Frome Festival is a celebration of arts, culture and community across a broad 10-day programme of activities.
The majority of events are coordinated by local independent event organisers, using the festival’s platform to reach large audiences, as well as promote their year-round activities.
Last year, 250 events took place ranging from large and small name music and comedy acts, plays, recitals, food and drink tastings, talks, art exhibitions, drawing workshops, bouldering, film screenings, antique valuations, quizzes, dance workshops, tunnels tours, walks, photography lessons, sound baths and many events targeted at children.
Organisers say that anybody can hold an event with the right idea and approval from the festival office and urge people to email them at office@fromefestival.co.uk to discuss any ideas. Creative or unusual ideas are especially welcome.
To hold an approved independent event, organisers pay a submission fee that helps to support Frome Festival’s running costs. Events can be free to attend or ticketed with the option of using the Cheese and Grain’s box office services. More detailed information can be found on the Frome Festival website.
Musicians who are interested in playing can email the festival office and also contact the venues, pubs and bars that programme music directly.
Frome’s textile industry will be the brochure cover theme for the 2025 festival, linking its rich heritage to the creative producers and artisans that make the town so special today. This theme could provide a helpful starting point for event proposals, although events do not necessarily need to link to the theme.
Businesses can also get involved with Frome Festival through sponsorship and partnership opportunities, more information is available on www.fromefestival.co.uk.
