Frome Lions held their annual Summer Fete at Frome’s Victoria Park on Saturday 14th June.
A glorious sunny day brought the public out to enjoy not only the weather but the many attractions and good causes on show.
The afternoon festivities were opened with a few ‘Oyez’s’ by the Town Crier Mike Bishop. Sound was provided by Pete Dayman- Johns and music by the Frome Youth Band. Lots of Lions train rides, burgers, hot dogs and teas and cakes were consumed as the spectators enjoyed the weather.
Crowd favourites were the Charisma Twirlers with several displays in the arena and a Punch and Judy show. Many also enjoyed the bouncy castle, swing boats, face painting and other charity stalls spread around the park. The Frome’s Carnival Queens with all their attendants had an enjoyable tour around the fete.
The Lions estimate that after costs, just under £1,000 will be added to their charitable trust account to help lots of needy people and causes locally. The Lions also feel that to see so many smiling people enjoying the atmosphere of this community event was as rewarding.
