Volunteers in Frome are working hard to provide support for residents who may need it this Christmas.
Here is a round-up of some of the support being offered by local groups:
Christmas Get Together
A special Christmas Day for residents and families of all backgrounds is being organised by the Frome Christmas Get Together volunteers on Christmas Day from 11am to 2pm at the Assembly Rooms, for anyone who is struggling financially, as well as anyone who feels lonely at this time of year.
Volunteers are planning to provide 200 two-course meals with all the trimmings, along with individual gifts, transport to and from venues, carol singing, games, entertainment and company on the day.
One of the organisers, Emma said, “The event is free to attend but it’s helpful to book places in advance so that the festive elves can prepare food and gifts. Organisers are working closely with Fair Frome, the weekly Day Centre lunch club, Rotary Clubs and Inner Wheel, Frome Community Drivers and many local groups and community services to ensure the whole community is welcomed on this special day.
“There are lots of ways to support the event, even for those who don’t come on the day. Talk to your friends, neighbours and work colleagues, ask them what they’re doing and if they’ve heard about this free event. There is a festive donation drop off session on Saturday 20th December from 2pm to 3pm at the Elliott Building on Park Road and also a Crowdfunder online to help the winter programme of support organised by Fair Frome.”
Guest forms are available at Frome Library or telephone Margaret on 01373 465418 to find out more. Everyone is welcome.
