FROME Swimming Club, with families in tow, travelled over 160 miles to Penzance, to take part in the 2nd Carn Brae and Helston Sprint Meet with Skins.
The Carn Brae and Helston Sprint Meet with Skins is a friendly and competitive meet that offers the swimmers the chance to work on their personal bests in a short course saltwater pool.
James Metcalfe, of Frome Swimming Club reports, “21 swimmers represented the club, the youngest 10 years of age and the oldest 45. They all worked hard as a team to support each other, with some sore voices by the end of the day. Alisha Freeman, who is 11, once again tore up her personal record book with PBs in all her five events, coming in 1st overall in her age group.
“Will Carpenter put in a captain’s performance gaining four PBs and finished 3rd overall. Five other swimmers Jessica Metcalfe, Kody Maidment-Windsor, Grace Bahadoor, Milly Applegate and Bethan Davis all achieved four PBs out of their five races.
“All swimmers gave it their all before retiring back to the hotel for a celebration meal. The next day the swimmers met at that famous signpost for a farewell photo prior to driving the long way home.”
