Frome Community Education, an independent provider of classes and workshops for adults, is on the lookout for new tutors with course ideas to join their existing team.
The not-for-profit organisation has run courses in a variety of subjects for the last six years; its overall aim being to bring accessible and affordable classes to the local community and beyond.
The FCE, based at the town’s Cheese & Grain, is currently preparing its autumn brochure, which will encompass everything from languages and art & crafts to literature and dance.
Margaret Binney, one of the FCE co-founders said, “We are always looking for additional courses to expand our programme and would welcome new tutors to the group already working with us.
“We know there are people out there keen to share their skills and knowledge, although they don’t have to be trained teachers, it is useful if they have experience of teaching adults. What matters to us is that they need to love their subject.
“In recent years, we have been offering more day workshops and study days, so tutors don’t even have to commit to long courses to get involved.”
Local author and FCE tutor David Lassman said, “I really enjoy working with Frome Community Education and have run courses for them for the past five years.
“The administrative side of it is straightforward and there is thankfully a lack of the constant stream of paperwork that normally goes with teaching.
“As well as being very worthwhile teaching adults, it is also great fun.”
