FROME Friends of Palestine is hosting an authoritative talk by Dr Jason Hart on ‘Palestinian Children Under Israeli Occupation; the Imprisonment Of Ahed Tamimi and Beyond’.
Currently living in Frome and employed as a lecturer and researcher at the University of Bath, Jason is an anthropologist by training. Over the past 25 years he has studied, taught and conducted research in the occupied Palestinian territories, Israel and Jordan. In his research and writing he has focused on the situation of children, particularly those affected by political violence and displacement.
In this talk Jason will provide an overview of the key ways in which the Israeli authorities violate the rights of Palestinian children. He will discuss the work of international organisations mandated to work for the protection of children under threat of abuse or exploitation, and will show how the shortcomings of these organisations’ efforts may be attributed to political calculations and fears of loss of financing.
The talk will take place in St Catherine’s Church Hall, Park Road, Frome, on Friday 6th April starting at 7.30pm. Admittance is by donation, with proceeds going to the Collateral Repair Project.
