Tashi Lhunpo Monks in collaboration with BlackMoon1348, Michael Ormiston and Candida Valentino, will be performing at the HUBnub centre on Friday 15th September.
BlackMoon1348, Michael Ormiston and Candida Valentino are joined by two Buddhist monks from Tashi Lhunpo Monastery (South India/Tibet) to create a huge cinematic spectacle, combining the spiritual insight of Tibetan chants and mantras, the sound of the dungchen (Tibetan longhorn) gyaling (Tibetan oboe) and percussive ritual instruments with BlackMoon1348’s drone and sub-harmonic throat singing – joined with Michael and Candida’s unique speciality in Mongolian overtone/undertone singing, and incredibly influential talented instrumentation.
Tashi Lhunpo Monastery, now in exile in South India, is the seat of the Panchen Lama, and one of the foremost Tibetan Buddhist monastic universities. Their unique masked dances from the Gustor Festival at Tibetan New Year, atmospheric chant and music have mesmerised audiences throughout the UK and Europe.
BlackMoon1348 released their debut album “Sipda Bardo” in 2016 via NCY based label Hexx9- they have toured extensively ever since – with their unique blend of bowed guitars, synth drones and sub-harmonic throat singing, Tibetan chants and various Tibetan instruments – shrouded in black robes and solid red lights. A live experience buried deep within the Himalaya.
Michael Ormiston and Candida Valentino are the UK’s most respected and experienced Mongolian Khöömii overtone/undertone singers. Their unique concerts cross the boundaries between traditional Mongolian music, sacred sound journeys using Tibetan singing bowls, symphonic gongs, experimental improvisations with live electronics and original compositions on their vast collection of acoustic instruments.
