Stephanie Cole, star of Coronation Street and Doc Martin has added her support to a new Julian House charity shop venture by making her own donation of unwanted items and performing the official opening on 5th September.
Much work has been done over the past few weeks to get the shop in the Market Place ready. The premises needed some minor alterations but one of the most challenging tasks was generating enough stock to fill the shelves and provide replacement items.
This is the homeless charity’s third charity shop and will stock a broad range of clothes, bric-a-brac, music plus a substantial selection of quality books. Funding Manager, Cecil Weir is excited at the prospects for the new shop – “Frome is a thriving town with a vibrant retail economy. We are confident that customers will appreciate the quality of the stock that we put on sale and the fact that our book selection is made of titles that they’ll want to read. Our charity shops make a valuable contribution towards the running of our frontline services – so customers get great bargains, plus they’ll be helping one of the most marginalised groups in our society.
“We are delighted at Stephanie Cole’s support. The success of the shop will depend very much on public donations like this. We’re particularly looking for good clean clothes, saleable bric a brac and books.”
Angie McCallum, the shop manager, can be contacted on 01373 467940. The opening hours will be 9am-4.30pm Monday to Saturday.
