A FROME teenager has been commended for her bravery and quick thinking after she saved her father’s life by giving him CPR for over 20 minutes when he had a heart attack.
Frome College student, Chloe Polkinghorne, was awarded a Principal’s Commendation on Friday 24th February for saving her father’s life.
Chloe received the certificate for being extremely brave and administering CPR on her father, Peter Polkinghorne, after he suffered a heart attack.
Chloe jumped to the aid of her father after he collapsed, and single-handedly administered CPR for 20 minutes.
When a neighbour arrived to help Chloe, they took it in turns to continue the CPR in five-minute intervals each, until the ambulance arrived.
Spokesperson for the college, Jane Davis said, “Paramedics said that the courageous action by Chloe successfully ensured that not only did her father recover from the heart attack; he also did not lose vital oxygen to the brain or suffer dangerous side effects.
“Congratulations go to Chloe for her bravery, and our best wishes to her family.”
