Jack’s Music Club returned on Friday 16th September, and is looking for young musicians of any ability who want to use music as a social opportunity to play in groups and ensembles.
The club, run by Jackdaws in Great Elm near Frome, now offers young musicians the chance to earn their Arts Award and to try new things with likeminded musicians.
Organiser Joshua Bishop said, “Jack’s is already a great opportunity for teenagers to make music without being limited by things like genre or ability to read music. Adding the possibility of earning an Arts Award for the first time will make this a very exciting year at the club. I’m really looking forward to it – we’ve got loads of activities planned.
“We’ll give you the opportunity to earn your Arts Award and introduce you to new ideas, challenge you, and get you to try new things to develop your musical skills every week, all at Jack’s Music Club.
“If you’re between 12 and 18 years old, come and get involved in Jack’s after school club for a chance to meet other teenagers with a passion for music.”
The next Jack’s sessions are: Friday 23rd September, Friday 30th September, Friday 7th October, and Friday 14th October; all sessions run from 4.30pm to 6pm.
Sessions cost £2 each, with drinks and snacks provided. Additional fees apply to enter for the optional Arts Award opportunity at Jack’s Music Club.
The Arts Award is a nationally recognised qualification offered at five levels. Students can earn their Bronze Arts Award at Jack’s in any instrument, even if it’s unusual or they don’t read music.
