Enjoy four plays for the price of one on Saturday 11th May when actors from all over the south-west compete in the Western Area Final of the All-England Theatre Festival, hosted by Frome’s Merlin Theatre.
All four plays have already won at both their own county and divisional levels. Subjects and styles will be wide-ranging and you will hear Paul Fowler, renowned member of the Guild of Drama Adjudicators, give his detailed professional adjudication of each play. This day’s winner will progress to the national Grand Final. With two performances, each of two plays, at 2pm and 7pm, tickets are £9.50 for one session and £15.50 for both. Recommended age 12 +.
In the following week, live theatre screenings the New York Metropolitan Opera, NTLive from London’s Old Vic and from the Royal Ballet at the Royal Opera House offer a choice of ground-breaking opera, drama and dance. Pouilenc’s Dialogues des Carmlites is streamed from the NY Met on Sunday 12th May at 2pm, the NTLive offering on Tuesday 14th May is Arthur Miller’s All My Sons, while the Royal Ballet premieres works by three contemporary choreographers, Within the Golden Hour, New Cherkaoui and Flight Pattern. All screening tickets are £16, with £10.50 concessions.
