You can always be sure of good food, finds and times at The Frome Independent, and the forthcoming market will be no exception.
Market organisers said, “Sunday 5th July will see the town transform into The Independent State of Wonderland as we’re happily joining forces with Hunting Raven Bookshop and Farm Festival to celebrate a couple of significant birthdays.
“Alice In Wonderland has racked up 150 years of bedtime reading, and to mark the occasion Hunting Raven and The Frome Independent are inviting visitors to join us for a mad hatter’s tea party at the village green (outside the library) and adventures in the bookshop.
“We’re thrilled that the Queen of Hearts (aka Mayor Kate Bielby) will lead a Wonderland fancy dress parade, ending with the opportunity to learn the lobster quadrille dance.”
Entrants of all ages are invited to dress as their favourite Wonderland character and gather at Hunting Raven at 1.00pm. The best dressed characters will win Alice in Wonderland goodies donated by Hunting Raven bookshop.
And curiouser and curiouser … Farm Festival will take over the Market Place stage to celebrate their 10th birthday, where they’ll be bringing a piece of this summer’s festival action into the heart of the market.
Catch a sample of the acts lined up to play the festival from 11.00am including: Craig Sutton, better known as The Flamenco Thief, who delivers a unique blend of gypsy-jazz, rumba and ska fused together with intricate Flamenco guitar techniques; Kerensa Mason who, despite being dwarfed by her guitar, manages to create beautiful melodies with every song and PLUME, an instrumental trio from Frome, who transcend musical genres, including jazz, funk and post rock.
The organisers added, “We’re looking forward to another fun-filled market day in Frome when we hope to provide our own mini-festival that might be limited in time but big on atmosphere!”
